EQUIPMENT
-
Deck of 56 UFO PONG Cards
-
(OPTIONAL) UFO PONG Expansion Pack: Deck of 56 Additional Cards
-
6 Pong Balls (or more based on number of players per team)
-
24 Plastic Cups (12x Blue, 12x Green) (or more based on number of players per team)
PLAYERS
You can play with as many players as you'd like.
Our recommendation: 2 Teams of 2
SETUP
-
Set up 10 cups of their respective color on each side of the table in the following alignment along the table's edge:
-
3-4-3
-
Example: A row of 3 cups, followed by a row of 4 cups, followed by a row of 3 cups.
-
-
The shape should take an appearance resembling a UFO. Ensure that the row of cups closest to the edge of the table is aligned right on the edge.
-
Fill up the cups with WATER up to the first line of the plastic cups. (About 1/4 the volume of the cup)
-
DO NOT fill the cups with contents that you intend to consume. Due to unsanitary conditions, it is highly recommended that you only drink out of your own personal beverage container. If you willingly choose to defy this recommendation, you are assuming responsibility for all unsanitary health risks involved. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
-
Place 1 empty cup for each player along the edge of the center of the table. These will be used later in the game.
-
Shuffle the cards and fan them out in a straight line directly across the center of the table.
-
Split into 2 teams.
-
Example:
-
1v1 , 2v2 , 3v3, 4v4, etc.
-
-
Each player grabs a drink of their choice.
RULE OF THUMB
UFO PONG is best played with 4 players, 2v2. For each additional team member exceeding 2 players per team, it is highly recommended to add an additional 3 cups to each team's cups for optimal play.

Keep in mind that the base game for UFO PONG only includes 24 cups. If you are to have additional players per team, you may need to plan ahead and purchase additional cups (of your choice) to make this work.
Example:
-
If you are playing with 3 players on each team, there should be 3 cups added to each side, resulting in a new starting setup formation: 4-5-4
OR
-
If you are playing with 4 players on each team, there should be an additional 6 cups added to each side, resulting in a new starting setup formation: 5-6-5
-
Also be sure to include extra empty cups in the center of the table to equal the amount of players in the game.
-
Each player gets one throw per their team's turn, so be sure to have enough pong balls in play before you start.
RULES
To all you veteran beer pong players out there, you may be familiar with standardized house rules when playing beer pong. FORGET EVERYTHING YOU KNOW! This is NOT traditional beer pong! Therefore, ALL HOUSE RULES ARE NULL & VOID!
Here is a list of house rules that are NOT recognized in UFO PONG:
-
Balls back: When both players make a cup, both players get to shoot again
-
Rollbacks: When a ball is thrown, but remains on the table and can be retrieved by the thrower to shoot again.
-
Reracks: When a team has 6 cups left on the opposing side, they can opt to have the cups rearranged to their liking. (UFO PONG includes a card for this, so Reracks are not recognized as an "On-call" mechanic)
-
Same Cup, 3 Cup: When both players make the same cup, 3 cups are removed
-
Fire: When a player makes 3 shots in a row, they get the ball returned to them to shoot again, and continue shooting if they continue to make cups in succession
-
Island: When a cup is not touching any cups, a player can call "Island" to aim for that specific standalone cup to result in 2 cups being removed
-
Air-balls: When an opposing team catches the thrower's ball if it is overthrown past the table
-
Baseballs: When a ball bounces off a cup, or cups, and goes into another cup, all cups that the ball bounced off are also removed
-
Bouncing: When a player bounces a ball off the table and makes a cup, 2 cups are removed
-
Trick shots: When a player intentionally throws a shot that is deemed more difficult in order to have 2 cups removed if the cup is made
-
Gentlemen's Cup: When a team has reduced the amount of cups on the opponent's side to 2 cups or less, they can have the cup(s) center aligned at the edge of the table.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with these "house rules", don't worry about it. They don't apply here anyway.

Below are the basic rules for UFO PONG:
-
Have all players review the USER AGREEMENT, RELEASE, & LIABILITY WAIVER prior to playing the game. This can be found at the bottom of this page or directly printed on the UFO PONG packaging.
-
Each player gets 1 shot per turn unless otherwise specified.
-
When a cup is made, the cup is to be removed IMMEDIATELY.
-
When a player makes a cup, they get to pull a card.
-
Play is paused when a player makes a cup in order to allow them to pull a card
-
Read the cards aloud and follow the written instructions.
-
The cards have specific terms such as "YOUR" cups and "OPPONENT'S" cups. "YOUR" cups refers to the cups that are directly in front of you on YOUR side of the table. "OPPONENT'S" cups refers to the cups directly in front of the opposing team on THEIR side of the table.
-
Do not pull a card when the final cup has been made.
-
When the final cup has been made, the defending team goes to REDEMPTION, where they must make at least one cup on their turn in order to stay in the game.
-
If a cup is made on redemption, 1 cup is to be placed center-aligned at the edge of that team's side of the table and all remaining balls are to be passed to the opposing team.
-
The game is over when a team fails to make a cup on REDEMPTION.

DRINKING RULES (21+)
-
All team members must take 1 drink for EACH cup that is removed from their side.
